Mr. Laird Q. Cagan is the Founder and Managing Partner of Silicon Valley–based CMCP, a private investment holding company he founded in 1990, and recently co-founded SageInvest Capital Management, the firm’s dedicated investment platform focused on direct PE and VC co-investments with family offices. He has been actively involved in over 50 high-growth companies over the past 30 years as an investor, founder, board member, and CEO, across a variety of industries including energy, cleantech, fintech, nanotech, medtech, healthcare, IT, payments, and water resources, with some business activities in India and Mainland China. He has taken over 10 of those companies public and has often continued serving on their boards. Over $3 billion of capital has been invested in these companies.

Mr. Cagan previously worked in M&A at Goldman Sachs & Co. and Drexel Burnham Lambert. In total, he advised on more than 30 transactions valued at over $15 billion, bankruptcy workout transactions exceeding $2 billion, and a variety of equity, high-yield bond, and senior debt financings.

Mr. Cagan attended M.I.T. and received a BS, MS, and MBA from Stanford University, where he remains deeply connected. He is also a graduate of the UCLA Board of Directors Program. He is the founding Chairman of his YPO San Francisco Chapter and Chair of the San Francisco Group of Tiger 21, a global network of UHNW investors focused on successfully managing personal wealth. He and his wife founded the Stand4Lyme Foundation, partnering with the Stanford Lyme Working Group, which they helped initiate at Stanford Medical School.

An avid athlete, he played varsity Division I soccer at Stanford and continues to enjoy soccer, tennis, golf, and skiing. As an adult, Mr. Cagan has won over-40 and over-50 Soccer National Championships. He is a former member of the Stanford University Athletic Board, an inductee to Stanford Associates for his volunteer efforts, and is honored to have the Laird Q. Cagan Stadium at Stanford named after him.
